Reflecting on public speech presentations
Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening! I want to expresses my thoughts and ideas on what i gathered through my classmates presentations on public speaking! Every presentation and every speaker that spoke was very intriguing and interesting to hear. Everyone had different ways of present and getting their point across and i thought that was great! its amazing to see everyone's style. I going to explain how i interpreted the topics that were spoken and give some information on them below.
The power of informative speaking!
There is no doubt that informative is very powerful. That's what the world revolves in, powerful informative speaking!. Informative speaking is a skill that people need to have in general. What your essentially trying to achieve with this skill is to make a group of people or an audience be educated on the topic that you are discussing about. When you are speaking to the audience it is important for you to be knowledgeable on the topic, keeping the audience engaged, and making it clear enough for the average viewer to comprehend, no matter how complex the topic is. While i was watching my classmates presenting i felt as though they did enough research. Everyone had an amazing and immense amount of information on the topics they were talking about that even some went on for more than 10 minutes!
Making your speech,,, fun!
In the first groups presentation i was actually interested in the part of engaging the audience. In basic terms you have to make the audience interested in what your talking about. If for example, you're talking about global warming and your audience is a group of teenagers, you wouldn't talk about straight facts to them. Teenagers want engagement, questions, asking individuals on what they think about global warming. That is one way to make your audience engaged with what your saying and maybe, just maybe, they would be inspired by your speech or take whatever you said into account, and then that's when you know that you did an amazing job in your speech.
Communication and clarity
Being understood should be loud and clear. A nicely structured presentation makes it so that the audience can understand and follow along with you without getting confused. Using a nice and non complex set of words while explaining things makes it a very good way to make the audience not confused. Don't try to overcomplicate your life and try to make yourself look fancy while talking, it is important that the audience knows what your saying and trying to look smart isn't going to get your point across. The groups that presented had their points across real clear and didn't try to hard to make their sentence complex and used language what we the audience understand.
Your purpose Your topic
The very important step into having a successful informative speech is defining your purpose and picking a good topic. With this you want to personally ask yourself, what do i want my viewers and audience to learn, what do i want them to take with them in real life with them, how do i make it life changing for someone. If you want to inform someone about the dangers of swimming in shark infested waters, you would have to talk about what they look like, how to avoid them, when is the peak time that sharks come to shore, and what to do when a shark is near. Maybe it is an exaggeration but it should be the general concept you should be using when you're planning to speak. Choosing a topic as well is important. See what type of audience your going to speak to and determine which topic is appropriate for them. Consider this when your picking out a topic, is my audience at the right demographic for this topic, is the topic outdated?, choose something that you actually like. Once you choose a topic you would like to share it is also important for you to be informed on what your speaking, which goes hand in hand with the first paragraph and topic i talked about.
Using the media to your advantage!
Using pictures, videos, or even gifs is a great way to get your point across. Sometimes people are visual learners ( like me ) and they would like something to look at while your talking. Making the slides all text may be visually annoying to some so it is important to incorporate some type of media that is related to your topic. You can hyper link a video into your slides to show the audience a demonstration of the topic at hand. Its also a nice thing to include a picture of something your talking about because it gives the audience a image in their heads on what your saying or talking about.
Conclusion
As i conclude my first blog post i realized that i have learned plenty with just these presentations that were presented by my classmates. their way of speaking made me understand fast and rapidly on what they were explaining. I don't think there has been a class that has given 16 chapters in less than a month i have reasonably understood every single topic spoken. My class mates also did a good job on presenting and doing their research on the topics before hand and gave it their all when presenting. While we close this chapter on these presentations i can say with full confidence now with the knowledge i know about how to get good and informative speeches, I feel confident enough to give one myself alone. With the tools and explanations given i am 1000 percent confident everyone leaving the class can also leave and give a speech now with the information consumed. Thank you so much for reading my blog and i hope one day maybe someone else can get inspired by my speeches and then after mine give one of their own. Thank you so much for reading!
